Authors, artists, activists: let's talk about the climate crisis

By Coach House Date: January 16, 2020

Submissions are OPEN for Watch Your Head: Responding to the Climate Crisis!

Watch Your Head began as an online anthology (ongoing here) that came together as a result of a climate crisis poetry reading organized by Kathryn Mockler (formerly of The Rusty Toque) on September 7, 2019. Mockler was so energized by the reading that she decided to start a website to host writing and art influenced by the climate crisis. Since then, the website has attracted lots of great work on the subject of the climate crisis. Coach House is proud to be working with the editors of the site to produce a print anthology of the best of the website.

From the editors: "We are looking for innovative creative works in a variety of forms (poetry, fiction, essays, rants, manifestos, and visual art) that respond to the climate crisis. We are particularly interested in works that focus on the following: climate justice, Indigenous sovereignty, decolonization, racism, disability, climate science, ecology, extinction, and critiques of colonialism, consumerism, and neoliberalism as they intersect with, implicate, and are implicated in the climate emergency."

Print anthology editors Madhur Anand, Stephen Collis, Jennifer Dorner, Daniel Lockhart, Catherine Graham, Elena Johnson, Canisia Lubrin, Kim Mannix, June Pak, Sina Queyras, Shazia Hafiz Ramji, Rasiqra Revulva, Sanchari Sur, and Jacqueline Valencia can't wait to read your work! Submissions received before February 16 will be considered for both the web and the print anthology.
