Coach House Books is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, imaginative, organized Digital and Distribution Coordinator.

We’re looking for someone who is exceptional at keeping things organized. You’ll be overseeing our digital program, with responsibility for our metadata, ebooks, and website. You’ll keep track of our sales and present regular analysis of them, as well as work with our Sales and Marketing Coordinator on sales campaigns and strategies. What you’ll do:

 Manage our metadata systems, including Book One
 Manage our website
 Coordinate ebook production and dissemination
 Liaise with our two distributors and monitor inventory with both
 Enter sales reports in our Filemaker database
 Maintain our Filemaker system
 Regular sales analysis
 Brainstorm and coordinate sales efforts
 Some bookkeeping
 Some grant writing
 A little bit of everything, too, to help make our very small office run smoothly

What you’ll need:

 An enthusiasm for independent Canadian publishing
 An interest in and knowledge of the Coach House list
 Terrific organizational skills, including the ability to plan and schedule several projects well into the future
 The ability to communicate amiably and promptly with coworkers, distributors, authors
 A phenomenal attention to detail
 An ability to summon enthusiasm for dull admin tasks
 An ability to work on multiple projects and with constant interruptions
 Excellent spelling and grammar in everyday correspondence
 Ideally, comfort with Excel, Filemaker, HTML, QuickBooks
 Design experience is an asset

This is a full-time position, located in our charming but eccentric, squirrel-infested coach house in downtown Toronto. The pay is reasonable, and it depends on what you’ll be bringing to us in terms of experience. You’ll have to do a number of different tasks, but you’ll learn about every aspect of independent publishing.

We strongly encourage applications from people with marginalized backgrounds. This job, however, will require lifting heavy boxes, and our workplace cannot be upgraded to be made accessible.
To apply, please send your resume and cover letter in a single document (PDF, Word, or rich- text format) to We’d love it if you would include a list of your three favourite books.

Deadline: October 19, 2019
