The Scream: Redacting the Redacted with Alana Wilcox, Stuart Ross and Bev Daurio
Coach House senior editor Alana Wilcox teams up with Stuart Ross (Poetry Editor of Mansfield Press) and
Bev Daurio (Editor-in-chief of The Mercury Press) for Stet: Redacting the Redacted. The Scream Festival event, hosted by Julie Wilson, is described on the festival site:
'Behind every great book is the silent effort of an editor, the first, best reader of the work. Some hack-and-slash, others suggest and cajole, but all editors have a style that impacts the final product. What dialogues and tensions occur between authors and editors? How are works cut, sutured and stitched from manuscript to print? The Scream invites you into the surgical amphitheatre as Julie Wilson (seenreading.com) hosts an editing autopsy. Alana Wilcox, Stuart Ross and Bev Daurio have individually blind-edited one poem and piece of prose by well-known writers; now, they'll put on their latex gloves and poke around in the guts of the work. The authors will be unveiled, the editors will discuss what it's like to get their hands dirty, and we'll get a good look at literature from the inside.'
